Die Melodien haben schon abertausende Kleine und Große für Klassik begeistert. Ein ganzer Zoo von Tieren wird in diesem Gesprächskonzert für die ganze Familie vorgestellt und farbige Porträts bekannter Märchenfiguren wie Dornröschen, der kleine Däumling oder die Kaiserin der Pagoden obendrein. Im »Karneval der Tiere« sind sie alle hautnah zu erleben: der edle Schwan, der mächtige Löwe, die zwitschernden Vögel, die langsame Schildkröte. In ihnen parodierte der verschmitzte Komponist Camille Saint-Saëns zugleich auch so manchen seiner Kollegen. Und das Ganze war eigentlich auch gar nicht für die Öffentlichkeit gedacht, sondern als ein Faschingsscherz, für den sich der Franzose später sogar geschämt hat. Warum? Und welche die einzige Melodie war, die Saint-Saëns nicht peinlich empfand? The melodies have already inspired thousands and thousands of young and old to enjoy classical music. A whole zoo of animals is presented in this talk concert for the whole family and colorful portraits of well-known fairy tale characters such as Sleeping Beauty, the little Thumbelina or the Empress of the Pagodas on top of that. They can all be experienced up close in the »Carnival of the Animals«: the noble swan, the mighty lion, the chirping birds, the slow tortoise. In them, the mischievous composer Camille Saint-Saëns also parodied many of his colleagues. And the whole thing was not actually intended for the public, but as a carnival joke, which the Frenchman was later even ashamed of. Why? And which was the only melody that Saint-Saëns did not find embarrassing?
